Need help with Safa?
Safa is made by one person, so your message comes straight to me. I read everything and reply to as much as I can — usually within a few days.
If you're reporting a problem, it helps to include your iPhone model, your iOS version, and the city your prayer times are set to.
My prayer times look wrong
Prayer times depend on both your location and the calculation method your local mosque follows. Tap the location pin at the top of the home screen and check your city is right, then try a different calculation method — Safa supports twelve, including Muslim World League, ISNA, Umm al-Qura, Karachi and the Moonsighting Committee. If your mosque follows the Hanafi position for Asr, switch the madhab setting to Hanafi.
I'm in the UK or somewhere far north and the summer times look odd
At high latitudes the sun doesn't dip far enough below the horizon in summer, so Fajr and Isha are calculated rather than observed. Safa applies the recommended high-latitude rule automatically. If your mosque publishes different times, switching calculation method usually brings the two closer together.
I'm not getting prayer notifications
Check the bell icon at the top of the home screen is switched on, then confirm iOS notifications are allowed for Safa in Settings → Notifications → Safa. If notifications stop after a few days, opening the app once will reschedule them.
My streaks aren't unlocked yet
The prayer streaks card unlocks once you've recorded ten prayers in total. Until then it shows how many are left.
Will I lose my prayer history?
Your history is stored on your phone, not on a server. It stays as long as Safa is installed. Deleting the app removes it permanently, and there is currently no way to back it up or move it to a new phone.
Is Safa free? Is there a paid version?
Safa is free. There are no ads, no subscription and no in-app purchases, and there is no paid tier being held back.
Is Safa on Android?
Safa is currently on iOS. If you'd like to know when an Android version is available, email me and I'll let you know.
Can I request a feature?
Yes, please do. A lot of what's in Safa came from people asking for it.
